SUMMARY

This 16-hour course provides a comprehensive exploration of social psychology, focusing on how individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the social context. Participants will delve into key concepts and theories in social psychology, examining topics such as social perception, group dynamics, social influence, and interpersonal relationships. The course emphasizes the practical application of social psychological principles in real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of how social factors shape human behavior.

  • Examine the concept of self, self-esteem, and self-presentation in social contexts and explore your own self-concept.
  • Describe how attitudes are formed, maintained and ways to change attitudes; discuss the fundamental attribution error.
  • Discuss the role of prejudice, stereotypes, and biases in social perception and decision-making, and ways to reduce or eliminate prejudice, stereotypes and unconscious bias.
  • Explain how social influence, including conformity and persuasion shape individual behavior and group dynamics, and ways to enhance your social influence skills.
  • Assess how social categorization and group membership influence self-concept and behavior.
  • Identify factors that promote or hinder helping behavior and altruism, and ways to enhance pro-social behaviors such as cooperation, collaboration and work through conflicts.
  • Understand the role of culture in shaping social behavior and norms and how to enhance cross cultural communications.
  • Discuss the importance of diversity, equity, equality and inclusion in personal and work life.
